Mutiny’s late rally comes up short to end record season

Date: Sunday July 23, 2015

The Myrtle Beach Mutiny’s record-setting season finally came to an end Saturday night, but the NPSL South Division finalists didn’t go down without a fight.

The Mutiny rallied from a three-goal deficit to come within one score of visiting Chattanooga FC, but they couldn’t get the equalizer to go down in the final minutes and suffered a 3-2 loss in the second round of the NPSL Playoffs at Ashley Booth Field.

Chattanooga took a 1-0 lead and halftime and stretched it out to 3-0 with a goal in the 77th minute. But Myrtle Beach’s RJ Bass scored a goal in the 82nd and assisted on another to Noah Gulley in the 84th minutes to make it interesting in the final 6 minutes plus injury time. But Chattanooga survived the final flurry to defend its title and advance to the NPSL’s Final Four.

For the Mutiny (12-2-1), the loss marked the end of an historic season in which the team set records for wins and goals while also earning the franchise’s first playoff bid and home game. Myrtle Beach defeated Wichita FC 3-1 last week for its first-ever postseason victory. Source:Http://Www.Grandstrandsportsreport.Com/Mutinys-Late-Rally-Comes-Up-Short-To-End-Record-Season/
