Coast 99 Red player Tanner Goshert was chosen for the 1999 Region III ODP team after a grueling two week camp at the University of Alabama. Sixty players were chosen for the team from the thirteen southern states that make up Region III and they will have an opportunity to compete against the Region I, II and IV teams throughout the season. The top twenty players will then be rewarded with an international trip. US Youth Soccer is divided into four regions, Region I (East), Region II (Midwest), Region III (South) and Region IV (West) to assist in national competition and training. The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching. ” Tanner is a long time Coast FA player and is deserving of this award. Tanner is currently participating on our Region III Premier team and doing very well ” said Director of Coaching Ross Morgan.
