95 Girls Clinch Runner-Up Honors In Charlotte

Dateline: Charlotte, Novermber 19, 2007

The 95 Girls Red captured a finalist spot in the Charlotte United Cup this past weekend.  The team moved on to the finals by defeating Harris Y White 4-0, Mt Pleasant White 3-1 and Harris Y Green 3-1.  The Finals paired pared the girls again Carolina SC Select from Raleigh .  The game went to double overtime before Carolina Select clinched the goal winning score.  Final score was 0-1.

“The girls played outstanding soccer,” said Coach Howie.  “Julia, Taylor and Jackie all played some of their best soccer this year.  Julia had some great combinations in the midfield.  This was Megan's breakout weekend as she came alive in game one and continued on into the Championship game with good play.  Herman was excellent in goal as was Hannah, and the two shined on the field scoring 3 goals between them.  Herman's goal was a perfect cross from Tara who continues to improve each week.  Carmen kept winning ball after ball and playing very good soccer.  Then there was Francesca and Temperence.  Very solid all weekend and the two of them helped us stay active on the attack.  MacKenzie was, well she was MacKenzie…always hustling…always moving…always on attack…determined to score and score she did.  Catherine again had a spectacular tourney.  Emily played an absolutely perfect defensive game in every clutch situation, and stepped up big time in the Championship.”

Well done girls!
