91 Boys Take Top Honors in Hilton Head
Dateline: Myrtle Beach, September 20, 2007
The 91 Coast FA Waves-Boys coached by Mitch Moss took home top honors at the Hilton Head Soccer by the Sea Tournament this past weekend. Round one faced Coast FA against the Summerville Soccer Club team resulting in a Coast FA Waves victory 6-1. The next round pitted Coast FA against Discoveries with a favorable 2-1 outcome. The third round was a tough match against a tenacious Hilton Head team resulting in a 3-3 stalemate.
The point system had Hilton Head in first place going into the final championship match, a rematch of the previous round. Hilton Head mounted a 2-0 lead going into the second half. The 91 Boys reached down deep and refused to lay down. Cody Held #16 drove straight through the Hilton Head defense and scored the first goal of the second half in the first 15 seconds of play. Deep into the second half Michael Rives #00 was able to get his head on a well delivered corner kick from Michael Rice #8 to tie the game at 2-2. With less than 15 minutes left to play Michael Rice lined up his sights on a free kick from outside the eighteen and sent the final score into the back of the net winning the game and the championship!
Great Job Waves!!!!!
