Coach Chris Trimby's boys 97 White team ended their wild and crazy season over the weekend in Columbia S.C. by nearly claiming the Open State Cup championship. Coast finished as Finalist after posting a 3 win 1 loss record in miserable weather conditions to claim the runner up medals. The boys got things started on the right foot Saturday morning by beating cross town rival Beach United in a hard fought match. The second match brought Daniel Island's Cainhoy Athletic who had soundly beaten them in regular season play. A late goal by Cainhoy off a deflection proved to be the difference in a 4-3 loss but kept the team's State Cup hopes alive for Sundays two matches. Coast jumped on Summerville to post a 3-1 win to start off Sunday and ended with a terrific 1-0 result against SCUFC Cresent from Columbia to end their State Cup with a 3-1 record.
" I have been around this game all my life and I can not remember a season filled with more highs and lows than this one. These kids worked hard all year, made amazing progress and came within one deflection of winning State Cup. Our team showed tremendous heart this weekend in tough weather conditions when all the chips were on the table. I could not be more proud of this group " said Coach Chris Trimby
