Coast Strikes Gold at St. Patty Cup

Severe weather shut down the last round of games on Sunday at the St Patty Cup but not before five Coast boys teams made their way to the championship matches . Two hundred teams from throughout the Southeast participated in this years event in Columbia,South Carolina which included ten teams from Coast.
Coach Jimmy Deane, Justin Wolf and Aaron Miller guided two Coast U8 boys teams to the first and third division final matches before the weather blew in. All three coaches played collegiate soccer and Deane & Wolf are current players for the Myrtle Beach Mutiny. " I think that I get as amped up coaching these seven year olds as I do playing my Mutiny matches joked Wolf. it is awesome watching these guys progress and learn the game."
The Coast 04 Red team coached by Luis Brenes posted three one sided victories on their way to the championship. Coast scored twenty one goals while allowing only three in the qualifying rounds. " Our success at this tournament gives us great confidence going in to the State Cup in a couple of weeks " added Brenes.
The U11 Divisions were dominated by Coast taking both the first and second division titles. The Coast 02 Red team coached by Donnie Price reeled off three straight victories with a positive ten goal differential. Coach Swavek Apanowicz U10 Coast 03 Red team played up a year to the U11 second division and posted two wins and one tie against older competition to reach the finals.
