Three Coast teams returned with medals from the 2014 Kohls American/ Palmetto Academy Cup played at Patriots Park in Sumter, SC.

The Coast 03 red team coached by Swavik Apanowicz posted a 3-0-1 record for the weekend to take home the winner’s trophy, playing up a year in the U11 MLS division “I’m very proud of the way we played. It was a great weekend of soccer from the boys that were playing up an age group against very good opposition” said Coach Apanowicz.

Coast 04 Red fell just short in the final against DSC 04 Green. After posting huge wins on Saturday and getting to the final with a 3-2 win in Sunday’s semi-finals. “We were seconds away from winning the final when DSC tied the game in the last minute” said Coach Luis. In double over-time DSC were able to score another goal to take the title. “It was a great weekend of soccer for us, and I’m very happy with the way the boys played” said Coach Luis

Coast 05 red coached by Jimmy Deane and Aaron Miller finished runner-up to DSC 05 Green after beating the very same team on Saturday morning on the way to a 2-1-1 record for the weekend. The final was hard fought but the Coast 05 team ultimately lost to a well-coached DSC team. “I was a little surprised at how good the standard was of the teams we were playing against but the boys responded tremendously well and played some outstanding soccer over the weekend” said Coach Deane.
