Coast Teams Advance to Final Four
Dateline: Monday May 5, 2014
Two Coast FA boys teams posted very impressive results over the weekend in the first round of the SCYSA State Cup Challenge Division to advance to next weekend's Final Four in Mount Pleasant S.C. South Carolina youth soccer has five levels of difficulty beginning with the entry level Rec League followed by Classic II, Classic I, Challenge and Premier. With a win next Saturday both the Coast U13 & Coast U14 boys would qualify for the prestigious Region III Premier League next season and play against the state champions and finalist from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Coach Jeremy Glick's Coast 00 Red team scored a decisive 4-0 win of rival DSC Green from Rock Hill SC on Saturday at Socastee Park. " Our keeper made two excellent saves at the beginning of the match to keep us in it early. After we scored our first goal the boys just rode the momentum for a one sided score at games end however the score was not a true reflection of the difficulty of the match. DSC is a very good side and things just went our way today. We look forward to the opportunity that lies ahead of us next weekend " said Coach Glick.
The Coast 99 Red boys coached by Joel Banta posted a 5-0 win on the road versus SCU/ MP at Patriots Point on Sunday. " The kids came out very focused and ready to play today. We got on them early and did a good job of keeping possession of the ball to dictate play. It was a very good result for us against a well coached Mount Pleasant squad. We are excited to be a part of this year's final four " said Banta
