The Coast FA girls program made a big impact at this weekends Charleston Shootout in Mount Pleasant, S.C. Two championships and one runner up trophy came home with the girls after a beautiful weekend of soccer. “ Each of the three teams that medaled did so in extraordinary fashion. The kids really stepped up this weekend “ said Coast Director of Coaching Ross Morgan.

Coast 07/08g Piedmont (Click for Image) coached by Mario Benjamin claimed the championship in U19 1^st Division by posting three consecutive wins and a draw. The victories came against fellow Piedmont League teams from Pender Soccer Club and Easley Soccer Club. The girls earned a hard fought draw with the Surf NPL side in pool play only to defeat them 2-0 in the final. “ This group continues to impress. Putting together four highly competitive matches in very hot conditions to bring home championship medals. Man I love these girls” said Coach Mario Benjamin.

Coast 16g Red (Click for Image)  coached by Khalil Bouhaddou also claimed top honors in the U10 1^st Division. The three pool play wins came against Surf Black, Sporting Jax Pre ECNL and FC Charleston Gold. The final saw us edge out FC Charleston in kicks from the mark after a 0-0 regulation scoreline. Coach Bouhaddou said “ Our team’s exceptional performance and unwavering dedication earned us the ultimate reward that we came for. “

Coast 17g Red  (Click for Image) coached by Stephanie Cumez brought home finalist medals in a gritty effort that saw her team play with no subs all weekend. The girls lost a hard fought match 1-3 to eventual champion CESA before righting the ship to post two convincing results on Sunday. ‘ We did well in less than ideal circumstances playing with no subs. “ The team has trained very hard since the start of the season and it paid off for us this weekend ” said Coach Cumez.
