NCFC & Savannah Showcase Results

Coast FA showed well at two College Showcases over the weekend. Both Savannah and Raleigh are regarded as two of the top events in the country. Seven Coast teams entered and returned home with two championships and one finalist. “We always enter our teams in these type events to have them sharp going into State Cup play. The level of competition and the opportunity to play teams from other states really challenges our kids after a very long fall season. We are now ready for a final push in an effort to win state championships” said Coast Director Heyward Gulledge.

Coast 04g Red…Coach Mark Sanchez’s girls won their division at U19 in the NCFC Showcase. The girls posted two clean sheets over Delaware Union Orange 4-0 and OCSA Jacksonville 3-0. Sunday’s match saw a hard fought 1-1 draw versus a solid Atlanta Fire side to secure the needed point for championship honors.

Coast 06g Red…Coach RJ Bass’s girls posted a very respectable 1-1-1 record in their U16 division at the NCFC Showcase. After an opening round loss to Epic SC from West Virginia the girls finished strong with a win over Charlotte Soccer Academy and a draw with UFA Norcross Premier

Coast 07 Red….The boys posted four lopsided results on their way to winning the Elite U15 division in Savannah. Coach Joel Banta’s team scored goals in bunches while conceding only three goals over four matches. Victories came over RAD FC, Charlotte, Lexington and Savannah clubs. “We played some of our best soccer to date during this tournament and I am in hopes that it will carry over to State Cup. All of my players made major contributions in the four matches. We are in top form for the stretch run ” said Banta.

Coast 03 Red…Coach Brian Smith’s team posted a 2-1-0 record in their U19 Gold division in Savannah. Victories came against two Georgia based teams (Effingham and Savannah) with their lone defeat coming to eventual champion Augusta Arsenal.

Coast 03g Black…Coach Rob Bramble’s girls fought their way into the championship match after beating Charleston United in PK’s during their semifinal. The girls finished as finalist in Savannah after dropping a hard fought result to Central Brevard in the championship.
